Marketing Your Self Published Book

Authors have to wear 2 hats: writer & marketer. You write the book and are exhausted. Well, now you have to market it. Otherwise your book will be lost in a sea of thousands of Amazon books and no one knows it exits.

eBook Promo sites like FreeBooksy, The Fussy Librarian, Book Sends have huge subscriber lists.  100,000 people, for example, who signed up to have access to free books or bargain books. Your book will be featured in their mailings. They charge between $40 to $65.

If you sell exclusively on Amazon, Amazon gives you 5 days within each 90 day period to offer your book for free. I chose this route.

After you reserve a free offer day on Amazon, you coordinate with the eBook Promo sites to schedule your book to their subscriber list on the same day. Each subscriber has already selected a book genre like "Non Fiction" or "Romance Novels", so they are already receptive to getting book suggestions.

Why Offer your Book for Free on Amazon?

Amazon is giving you access to millions of people and it costs you nothing. Millions! If you had to PAY for that kind of advertising access, it would cost $$ thousands.

The book I wrote and marketed is "Unvanquished: How Confederate Women of the South Survived the Civil War".

You just offer your book free for 1 day (reserve it on Amazon KDP) and pay maybe $50 to the Book Promo companies like FreeBooksy to offer your book to their huge subscriber lists for that 1 day.

Amazon will notice how many people download your Kindle book that day and it affects the Amazon algorithm. Every time I offer my book for free, the following days I get more sales because the Amazon algorithm has elevated my book in the search results.

I wrote a book on my marketing journey as a best selling Amazon author. Click on book image below:
